During the latest episode of the podcast Cose Scomode, Michele Criscitiello commented on Rafael Leão’s situation this season. These were his words:
“True champions win matches on their own, or at least they make a decisive impact. In Leão’s last 40 matches, I don’t know how many times he has actually won games for Milan or truly made the difference.
Second point, to express himself at his best, Leão needs open space. But when you play for Milan, 17 times out of 19 you face teams that don’t give you that kind of space, so he doesn’t have those openings.
Third point, Allegri at the moment, even if it’s not something people want to say, is losing his bet. Leão is not a striker, yet because he wants to field a centre-forward and doesn’t really have one, and yes, poor Max, you’re right, he fixates on Leão even though Leão is not a centre-forward. Up front he struggles and he doesn’t make the difference the way he did when he played as a winger.”
