Fabrizio Romano, in a video with Matteo Moretto on his YouTube channel, provided updates on AC Milan’s interest in Nathan Aké, Manchester City’s defender.
Moretto said:
"He is a name Milan has been monitoring since the beginning of January, aware that it is a rather complicated deal in terms of costs. But in the final days of this transfer window, this kind of operation could perhaps turn into an opportunity. After tonight’s Champions League match, there will certainly be new meetings at City, and we’ll also need to see what Guardiola thinks. On Thursday, the City will also meet internally to figure out what direction to take regarding Aké. But I repeat, Milan is keeping a close eye, trying to understand and probe the costs of the operation to assess whether it is truly feasible."
Fabrizio Romano on Nathan Aké:
"I believe there are two points to consider regarding Aké. One concerns City: we need to understand whether City will want to let him go, because, well, the injuries to Ruben Dias and Gvardiol certainly don’t help. On the other hand, there is also the World Cup factor: Aké, like many other players, wants more playing time. Ronald Koeman, the Netherlands coach, even publicly a few weeks ago, reminded his players that anyone who wants to go to the World Cup needs to play regularly, and right now Aké isn’t playing much. So this incentive from Koeman, both public and private, could be a factor. Then it depends on City; we’ll see how this develops."
Moretto also said:
"I’m told that Aké would even be willing to make a financial sacrifice to join a project that can give him continuity in performance. So we’ll see what happens in the coming days."
