"Milan-Mateta, progress overnight: agreement with Palace. He could arrive immediately if…"
This is the headline on 'gazzetta.it', which explains that Jean-Philippe Mateta could soon become a Milan player, with the remaining question being whether he will arrive immediately or in the summer.
Overnight, the Rossoneri made significant progress and reached an agreement with Crystal Palace on the transfer fee: €30 million.
AC Milan’s management is working to try to close the deal straight away and deliver the player to Max Allegri for the second half of the season.
What is still missing?
Crystal Palace’s green light for an immediate transfer. The English club first need to sign another striker. If they manage to complete a deal for Jørgen Strand Larsen, formerly of Milan’s Primavera, from Wolverhampton, they will then be able to give the go-ahead for Mateta’s immediate departure. Otherwise, in the coming days the parties will try to reach an agreement for a summer move.
The player already has an understanding with Milan for a contract worth €3–3.5 million per season plus bonuses.
