Milan are working hard on Jean-Philippe Mateta in these final, hectic hours of the transfer window. The French striker is the main target for the Rossoneri management, who yesterday, late into the night, held phone calls and video calls with Crystal Palace’s executives and the player’s agent, Paul Latouche, who reaffirmed his client’s desire to wear the Rossoneri shirt starting this January.

The idea of bringing Mateta to Italy immediately appeals to Milan, who nevertheless do not want to offend the London club. An agreement, reportedly around 30 million euros, for next summer is already being discussed in principle. But can the Frenchman move to Italy in these final hours of the transfer window? Yes, provided two essential conditions are met, as relayed via Milan News.

The first: Milan will not pressure Palace, even though the player is eager to come to Italy. A deal this window will only happen once the English club finds a replacement, since Guessand alone (a winger/second striker) is not enough. In theory, former Milan Primavera player Strand Larsen could have unlocked the situation, but on Thursday the negotiation between the Eagles and Wolverhampton stalled.

The second: Furlani and Tare must find a solution for Nkunku, preferably a permanent transfer, but the player currently does not seem willing to leave Milan.

If these two conditions are met, Mateta could arrive in the city as soon as tonight or tomorrow for the routine medical examinations.
