If Massimiliano Allegri, speaking after Bologna-Milan 0–3 yesterday, struck a cautious tone and stressed how the three points matter far more in terms of the Champions League than in the context of a possible Scudetto sprint, Corriere della Sera is under no such pressure and is already projecting itself into the future, envisioning a derby duel for the title. In its sports pages this morning, the national daily runs the headline: "Milan, the right pace. It’s a Scudetto derby."
A showdown that begins at a distance this February but will lead to the head-to-head clash on 8 March. Allegri, however, is well aware that in a league like this season’s, anything can happen in 30 days, and therefore keeps his feet firmly on the ground. Between the strapline and the subheading, Corriere della Sera writes: “Long-distance duel.
A show of strength from the Rossoneri, the gap remains at five points. Three goals against Bologna and a message to the leaders. Loftus-Cheek, Nkunku and Rabiot on target. A solid, ruthless team, exactly as Allegri wants it.”
