After Tuesday’s victory over Bologna, which allowed Milan to move back to within five points of the top of the Serie A table, and following yesterday’s recovery session at Milanello, Massimiliano Allegri has granted his squad three days off. The team will return to training on Sunday.
This weekend, the Rossoneri will not be in action, as their home match against Como has been postponed to February 18 (tomorrow San Siro will host the opening ceremony of the Milan–Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics). Their next fixture is therefore scheduled for February 13, away at Pisa.
During these days off, players dealing with minor physical issues, namely Alexis Saelemaekers, Christian Pulisic, Rafael Leao, and Santiago Giménez, will still be seen at Milanello. Fortunately, there is good news regarding Davide Bartesaghi, who came off early against Bologna due to a problem with his left thigh: for the young Milan left-back, it appears to have been just a cramp, as Allegri also revealed after the match at the Dall’Ara.
On Saelemaekers situation:
Against Roma, he was substituted at halftime due to a flare-up of the adductor issue he first felt toward the end of the match against Lecce. The Belgian then missed the trip to Bologna and is now also doubtful for the upcoming game against Pisa. Fortunately, against the Emilian side, his replacement Zachary Athekame delivered a solid performance, writes Milan News.
Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leao:
It is difficult to make predictions about the American and the Portuguese players. The former was not even called up for the Bologna match due to bursitis near the iliopsoas, while the latter, who is still dealing with adductor discomfort, remained on the bench for the full 90 minutes at the Dall’Ara. Their conditions will be monitored day by day, in the hope of at least having them on the bench against Pisa.
What about AC Milan's striker Santiago Gimenez?
The Mexican striker, who underwent surgery on his right ankle in mid-December, is continuing his recovery process.
