Zlatan Ibrahimović had the honor and pleasure this morning of carrying the Olympic torch through the streets of central Milan. The former Swedish football legend, now a Senior Advisor to AC Milan on behalf of RedBird, paraded with the flame of the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympic Games, which will be officially opened this evening in the evocative setting of San Siro Stadium.
Ibrahimovic also spoke to Milan’s official channels:
"An endless emotion, I am very, very honored. I’ve always said that Italy is my second home; it’s a country that has given me so much. This is a moment I will carry with me. Milan and the city of Milan are part of my life: I’ve spent 70% of my life in this city. Representing Milan is a great honor; it’s part of my history. Milan is Milan. The Games can begin: the Olympics have been ‘Zlatanized.’”
