A year ago, Santiago Giménez seemed like the right investment for Milan’s attack: he scored on his Serie A debut and made a strong first impression. But then came a gradual decline, marked by elimination from the Champions League against Feyenoord, his former team, by technical tensions, and by increasingly poor performances.
Bought for €30 million, the Mexican has stopped making an impact, finishing last Serie A season with few goals and a symbolic red card in the penultimate matchday against Roma. Remaining in the squad without any real offers, he is still goalless in the league and recovering from an ankle procedure that will keep him out for a few more weeks. Yet Allegri is waiting for him: from March onward, Milan hopes for his resurgence.
