Barcelona are not ruling out a major sale in the next summer transfer window. An operation of this kind could prove decisive in strengthening the attacking department, particularly in the centre-forward role, and in freeing up space on the wage bill. The sporting director’s idea is to sacrifice a player who is not considered untouchable, and among the names being evaluated is Gerard Martín.
The defender was already close to leaving last summer, but in the end his stay indirectly contributed to the departure of Íñigo Martínez. Now several Italian clubs have shown interest. According to Thetouchline, AC Milan would be ready to present an offer of more than €25 million for the young blaugrana talent.
Gerard Martín has found consistent playing time this season, establishing himself especially as a left-sided centre-back. And that is precisely the role Milan are looking to strengthen, focusing on targeted investments and young, promising profiles. The Spanish defender fits these characteristics perfectly, although it remains to be seen whether the contacts will turn into something concrete.
Martín recently renewed his contract until 2028, with a release clause set at €100 million. Last summer, Wolverhampton made a formal offer of around €15 million, but the player rejected any negotiations. Everton also made an approach in the final days of the transfer window, without success.
AC Milan continue to monitor the situation, while other clubs could also enter the race. The situation remains open, even if the player’s stance seems clear: his priority is to remain in Spain.
