In the hard-fought, tough victory away at Pisa, 2-1, secured thanks to a moment of brilliance from Luka Modric at the end, Zachary Athekame was seen starting for the second time. The Swiss fullback, who joined from Young Boys last summer, delivered another solid performance following the Bologna away game.
When Loftus-Cheek scored the opening goal, it was Athekame who provided the perfect assist, a wonderful and accurate pass for the Englishman's header, marking his first assist of the season.
He’s a player who seems to shine against Pisa: in the first leg, Athekame had already made an impact with a stunning long-range goal that prevented defeat for Milan in the final minutes. That remains, to this day, the only goal the Swiss has scored in a Milan shirt.
