Mariani’s referee in the match against Como caused some irritation at Casa Milan. In particular, as explained this morning by Corriere dello Sport, the Rossoneri were upset about Massimiliano Allegri’s sending-off and the lack of a red card for Van der Brempt for the harsh foul on Strahinja Pavlovic. The Roman daily writes:
"From the Milan club, a certain irritation emerges regarding the referee decisions during the match against Como."
In fact, the red card for Allegri did not sit well, as Milan believes he only defended his player after the incident with the opposing coach. Equally troubling was the absence of a card for Van der Brempt for a foul on Pavlovic that forced the Serbian defender to leave the field with a serious fibula contusion. From the headquarters of the Rossoneri club, dissatisfaction leaks over decisions considered penalizing at a crucial stage of the championship, as relayed via Milan News.
