Matteo Gabbia, Milan defender who did not play today due to a muscle issue, was interviewed by Sky Sport 24 after Milan-Parma 0-1. Here is what he said.
Do you need to lift your spirits?
"It was an evening that did not start well and ended with a loss, which is the most painful thing. On behalf of myself and the whole team, I want to send a big good luck to Ruben because he is essential for us and a wonderful guy. We feel very sorry, we send him a huge hug and hope to see him back soon."
Any doubts about Parma’s goal: what do you think? Gabbia commented:
"We are disappointed with the match, with the defeat. Then we need to be clear-headed and not let these situations shake us. The referees are on the field to do their best, they have to make decisions, and not every situation is easy. We must not waste energy on these things. We need to focus on doing the best with what the staff tells us. There is no point in creating controversy now."
Is there a pattern in these poor performances against smaller teams?
"Hard to say. There have been matches against less prominent teams, like Cagliari or Verona, where we managed to play very well. It’s disappointing that tonight we couldn’t score or take the three points."
Have you given up on first place? Gabbia replied:
"As we always say, we must focus on ourselves and have the clarity to improve and do better every day. At the end of the season, we will sum up what we have done and what the other teams have done."
