The victory in Sunday night’s derby, which allowed Milan to get back into the race for the Scudetto and take what may be a decisive step toward qualifying for next season’s Champions League, came in front of Gerry Cardinale. In recent weeks he has often been seen around Milan and Milanello, as he wants to show an ever closer presence to the team and the club.

After the match, the head of RedBird went down to the San Siro dressing rooms to congratulate the squad on the win and on the spirit he saw on the pitch.

Cardinale confirms his trust in Allegri:

As reported this morning by La Gazzetta dello Sport, given the results, second place in the table, and the victory against Inter, the ownership’s trust in Massimiliano Allegri is at its highest. Cardinale is fully aware of how decisive the work of the coach from Livorno has been in bringing the Rossoneri back to the top and in helping the club forget last season. Max Allegri is the man not only for the present but also the one with whom to build Milan’s future, as the team will have to become competitive in Europe again next year. That is why, the newspaper writes, “the option to extend his contract until 2028, which will be triggered by finishing in the top four but which the club could have activated regardless of results, is seen as the key to giving the project the time it needs to grow and perhaps add more trophies to the cabinet after the Italian Super Cup won in January 2025 in Riyadh.”

Soon back in Milan:

After watching the derby victory, Cardinale left with his partner and daughter, though it was only a brief farewell. His intention is to return to Milan soon to support the Rossoneri group in this final stretch of the season. A return to the Champions League remains the priority, though after beating Inter and closing the gap to seven points some have started to dream of the Scudetto again. It will require a real feat. On one side Milan will need to try to win all of their last ten league matches, while on the other Inter would have to drop several points along the way. Still, at least dreaming costs nothing.
