Thirty-seven years old (38 next August 21) and he doesn’t seem to feel it. Robert Lewandowski continues to be a man in demand on the transfer market: with his contract at FC Barcelona expiring in June, the Polish striker is reportedly on the radar of Juventus FC and AC Milan.
Here are his words from an interview with SportWeek, the weekly magazine released on Saturdays with La Gazzetta dello Sport:
“Honestly, there’s nothing to say about my future right now. I’m being sincere. My goal is to reach the end of the season with as many wins, goals, and trophies as possible. Then we’ll see. I’m not thinking about it and I haven’t made a decision, at the moment it’s not a priority.”
“Have I ever been close to Serie A? In 2010 I was still in Poland and about to move to Borussia Dortmund. Genoa wanted to sign me, so they invited me to a match against UC Sampdoria. I was curious to see what the club, the stadium, and the atmosphere were like. Also, out of respect for those who had shown interest in me, I came to watch the derby at Stadio Luigi Ferraris. That was the only time I had any contact with an Italian team.”
Lewandowski also said:
"I see the Italian league as very competitive. It’s usually hard-fought and the same team doesn’t always win. In the UEFA Champions League you had finals with Juventus FC and then with Inter Milan, so it doesn’t seem to me that it’s in crisis," as relayed via Calciomercato.com.
