This morning’s edition of the La Gazzetta dello Sport analyzes the refereeing incidents from the match between S.S. Lazio and AC Milan, which was played last night and ended with a 1–0 victory for the home side.
Lazio’s goal was valid: Gustav Isaksen managed to break free without committing a foul on Pervis Estupiñán.
In the 74th minute, Milan thought they had equalized, but the referee Marco Guida blew the whistle for a handball by Zachary Athekame. According to the newspaper, the referee’s decision, later confirmed by VAR, was correct because the Swiss player touched the ball with his wrist before shooting.
Even though the contact was unintentional, it happened immediately before the shot, so disallowing the goal was the right decision.
