Santiago Giménez’s could have a second chance to prove his worth

Santiago Giménez could be included again among the players called up for the match against Torino: after difficult months marked by an ankle injury that kept him sidelined, the striker is looking for space in a crowded but struggling attacking department.

At the start of the season, the Mexican seemed to have integrated well into Milan’s offensive system, linking up with both Leão and Pulisic. However, he has lacked presence in front of goal: his only goal came in the Coppa Italia against Lecce, far too little to truly establish himself.

AC Milan’s attacking problem

At the moment, Milan is dealing with an attack that produces less than it should. The Leão–Pulisic duo provides quality and bursts of pace, but recently they have increasingly struggled against the solid defenses that are now standard in Serie A. What’s missing is a reliable focal point, someone who can better connect the play and, above all, occupy the penalty area and convert chances into goals.

The Giménez option amid competition and hierarchy

In this context, the Mexican’s return could represent an opportunity. His desire for redemption, combined with his ability to attack space and work for the team, could give a different dimension to Milan’s attack, especially at a time when alternative solutions are needed.

The problem, however, remains playing time. The arrival of Füllkrug and the presence of Nkunku, who, when fit, has already proven his value, make the competition even tougher. Giménez will therefore have to make the most of every opportunity.

An ending yet to be written

The end of the season will be decisive. Not only for Milan, who are called to rediscover the consistency in performances seen during the year, which for now means second place in the league, but also for Giménez, who may have what is perhaps his last real chance to carve out a leading role. Few chances, but significant ones. And in football, as is well known, it often takes just a spark to change everything, as relayed via Milan Press.
