Why AC Milan must make changes, even if it is already late

The possibility of closing the gap to -5 behind Inter Milan, which instead slipped away and turned into -8, definitively shuts down any scenario tied to AC Milan’s title ambitions.

An ending that makes this title race one of the strangest in recent years: whoever wins will do so without dominating head-to-head clashes, without asserting themselves in the derbies, and with the lingering sense that it would have taken very little (very, very little) to be crowned champions.

By the way, for fans closely following AC Milan matches and analyzing performance trends, platforms like like the Battery Bet app make that experience even more interactive by offering football betting alongside other casino games. It could be a high-stakes league clash or a tight derby, the supporters can make educated picks on Rossoneri matches and turn their game-day interest into a more rewarding experience.

Regrets and outlook:

In the Rossoneri camp, what remains above all is regret, amplified by what has happened over the past week and a half. Massimiliano Allegri's team missed their chance at the crucial moment, precisely when they could (and should) have taken a concrete step forward. But the defeat in Rome changes the perspective: rather than looking ahead, Milan is now forced to defend what it has, with a margin over fifth place that remains reassuring, but not enough to rest easy.

Explanations are piling up. Some point to the mental aspect, between pressure and nervousness at the decisive moment. A tension that theRossoneri club management, as a whole, failed to manage fully, including the coach, as pointed out via Milan Press. Almost as if the declared objective of qualifying for the Champions League ended up becoming a psychological limitation, rather than a foundation from which to relaunch their ambitions.

Milan, evolving by changing skin:

Then there’s the pitch. And there, inevitably, the question of choices comes into play. The 3-5-2 formation provided balance for much of the season, but in recent outings it has seemed to turn into a constraint rather than a solution, especially when the two selected forwards are not truly forwards. Even against Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio, after clear signs already in the opening minutes, AC Milan struggled to change its shape. The variation in the system of play came only at the very end, too late to slow down that Lazio side in the cauldron of the Olimpico stadium in Rome.

And so, even if it may be too late in terms of the title race, AC Milan can still consider changing something. For the final stretch of the season, which deserves to be honored, at the very least by securing second place, and perhaps, who knows, with an eye toward the future.

The 3-5-2 has restored solidity and identity, but the next step lies in the ability to evolve, and to do so immediately; not to chase an emergency, but to truly raise the bar.
