During the latest episode of 'Elastici', a format by 'Cronache di Spogliatoio', Massimo Ambrosini spoke about Rafael Leao. Here are his words:
"Pulisic was almost playing worse than him, because those two passes he didn’t make are a sign of a player who isn’t clear-headed, because you have to make those passes. If you don’t play them in that moment, then when will you? So if one of the two had to come off, it should have been Pulisic, not Leao, no doubt about it.
"Also, Marušić, who gets caught out by those two through balls, needs to be put under pressure. A defender facing Leao gets worried; now there’s nothing to be done, he scares opponents less. If I’m a right-back and you give him the ball, I start thinking: what’s going to happen now?"
"He’s trying, and over the season he has added something more. But you can’t judge him based on whether he lays the ball off or makes one run in behind. Sure, that’s good, you’re doing it well, but I have to judge you on whether you get on the ball ten times, position yourself well, and take on your opponent ten times a game."
