Mr. Massimiliano Allegri spoke to DAZN before the Milan–Torino match. Here are all the statements from the Rossoneri coach.
On Modrić’s future:
“First of all, I’m lucky to coach him every day, he’s a real asset to football. It will be difficult to find players like him again.”
How important is this match?
“It’s an important game. We’re coming off a loss after winning the derby. The table has tightened from bottom to top. We’re facing a Torino side that’s doing very well, they concede very little defensively, they’re strong on second balls and counterattacks. We’ll need a technically solid performance, but above all discipline and compactness.”
Had you prepared for the match with Leão starting anyway, or were you planning to rest him?
“No, absolutely not. Yesterday in training he had a recurrence of his adductor issue. We spoke with Rafa and preferred that he sit out today so he can have 20 days to recover. After the break, there will be eight matches left, and those will be decisive.”
So he won’t join the national team?
“I believe he’s been called up, but he’s absolutely not fit to play. He needs specific work to return to 100%.”
Today, with Füllkrug, there’s a reference point up front…
“Füllkrug is a player with different characteristics. Even so, when Leão played as a center forward — even if it seems like it’s not his role — he moved well. We just didn’t involve him enough. Füllkrug is certainly used to playing in that position. Today, regardless of who’s on the pitch, we need to play the right game to get the result.”
