Another week has passed, another match has been recorded, and with a victory, albeit hard-fought against Torino, that brings Milan closer to the most important goal of the season: returning to the next Champions League.
And precisely the European factor is one of the key elements that could push Luka Modrić to extend his contract with the Rossoneri. A renewal that everyone at Milan is pushing for.
AC Milan wants the renewal
Modrić’s contract officially expires at the end of the season, on June 30, 2026. The World Cup to be played with Croatia, and arriving at it at 100% of his physical condition, has always been his priority. The choice to join Milan last summer was a natural one, but today more than ever the Rossoneri club would like to keep him for the next season as well.
The clause, Allegri, and his teammates
In the current agreement, there is an automatic renewal clause for one season, but between the club and the Croatian midfielder there is an understanding that only Modrić will decide whether to activate it or not.
However, it is not only the management pushing for an extension, but also Massimiliano Allegri, who has practically always fielded him as a starter this season, and even his teammates, who within the dressing room are trying to convince Modrić to extend.
The Champions League temptation
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Champions League is the biggest temptation Modrić is facing at the moment. He is tempted to play another season with Milan, even though he will turn 41 in September, in order to play the next Champions League wearing the Rossoneri colors and experience the European thrill he has had in mind since childhood, ever since he followed the Milan of the great past.
