Hakan Çalhanoğlu, midfielder for Inter, reflected on his move to the Nerazzurri from Milan while speaking on the KAFA Sports YouTube channel. His words, reported by TMW:
"It’s a difficult step. First of all, you have to prove your worth and show that you are in good health. And then also with the fans, you had to convince them that you would always give 100%. But my first match went well, I scored and provided an assist. I was honestly excited about that match; it was a new experience, let’s say a transition in my career."
Çalhanoğlu continued:
"We waited until the very last moment for Milan to make an offer for a contract renewal, but it never came. At that point, my agent told me there was an offer from Barcelona and that Juventus was also interested. But then Inter arrived at the last moment: Inzaghi kept calling us constantly, he wanted me strongly. At that moment I asked myself: ‘How can you go from Milan to Inter?’ My agent told me: ‘Sleep on it, and when you wake up, call me.’ I accepted. It was my decision. When I told my family, they accepted it," as relayed via Milan News.
