Santiago Giménez has returned to the field after five months. Speaking to TUDN, a Mexican channel, he revealed new details about his ankle injury that forced him to undergo surgery a few months ago.
Here are Santiago Giménez’s words:
"I had discomfort even before the Gold Cup,” said Giménez. “As a player, you tell yourself it’s nothing and that you have to keep going, but after every match the pain kept getting worse and worse, until it reached a point where it was really intense. I was a starter at Milan, my expectations were very high, but I began to wonder whether it was better to stop or keep going. I decided to continue, I took medication to play, but I realized I could no longer run, it hurt a lot, I couldn’t go on. In the match against Atalanta I took a double dose of medication; that’s when I decided to stop, and after tests and X-rays, the decision was made to have surgery."
Gimenez said:
"With the World Cup coming up in the summer, I considered all possible situations, the decision I made, together with my family, was to have surgery, and it was the best choice," as relayed via Milan Press today.
