AC Milan knows exactly where it needs to rebuild in the transfer market: the number 9 role. Ahead of next season, the Rossoneri club is already evaluating several profiles to provide Massimiliano Allegri with a proper striker, one who is physically strong, reliable, and immediately decisive, especially considering that next year the “Diavolo” will be playing in at least one European competition.
The dream target is Dušan Vlahović, a name Milan continue to monitor, even though there is cautious optimism at Juventus about extending his contract until 2028. In the background, however, the shortlist is already rich and reflects a clear strategy: experience, presence in the penalty area, and tactical compatibility.
From the Vlahović dream to options in and from Italy
Vlahović is undoubtedly Allegri’s strongest temptation (and Milan’s) but also the most complicated deal. For this reason, the club’s management is keeping various alternatives alive. Santiago Castro is liked by Allegri, although Bologna FC are asking a very high fee, around €40 million.
Mateo Retegui is more than just an idea: in recent days there have been direct contacts between Igli Tare and the player’s agent, but his salary abroad remains the main obstacle to a possible return to Serie A.
The name Moise Kean is also on the list, but his €62 million release clause, valid from 1 to 15 July, weighs heavily and makes the deal financially rigid.
Two tempting possibilities
Amid all this, there are two particularly intriguing possibilities. The first concerns Robert Lewandowski, whose contract with FC Barcelona expires next June. The Polish striker is less a concrete negotiation and more an opportunity Milan could exploit, but everything will depend on the former Bayern player, who has not yet decided his future.
The second is a surprise name: Romelu Lukaku. Like Lewandowski, this is more a suggestion than a hot lead, but it cannot be ruled out entirely. The Belgian is currently going through a difficult period at SSC Napoli, and the long-standing admiration Allegri has for him could open up unexpected scenarios in the summer.
As always, the transfer market does not reward those who dream best, but those who act, and Milan are working precisely with that aim in mind.
