According to what has been reported by Il Corriere dello Sport in this morning's print edition, AC Milan is accelerating to secure Mario Gila from Lazio ahead of the summer transfer window. The Rossoneri club are intensifying contacts with the Spanish defender’s representatives to get ahead of the competition, particularly Inter, which could move for the player if Bastoni were to transfer to Barcelona.
The Rossoneri management has already monitored the 25-year-old through various scouts and received extremely positive feedback from Massimiliano Allegri, convinced by the strong performance the centre-back delivered against Milan at the Olimpico; moreover, sporting director Igli Tare knows the player very well, having already brought him for Lazio from Real Madrid for just 6 million euros.
Milan pushing for Mario Gila:
Despite Lotito having to pay 50% of any future resale to the Spanish giants, AC Milan aims to complete the deal for less than 20 million euros, as they want to take advantage of the defender’s approaching contract expiry (30 June 2027) and his full willingness to move.
