There are exactly three months to go until the summer transfer window, but Milan is already fully active in preparation for the next season. Executives Giorgio Furlani, Geoffrey Moncada and Igli Tare have been working for some time to strengthen Massimiliano Allegri’s Rossoneri squad in the campaign that, most likely, will see the club back in the Champions League (this is everyone’s hope). It will be necessary to expand the squad both in quantity and, above all, in quality in order to be competitive right to the end in the league and in Europe.

A few days ago, there was a transfer meeting at Casa Milan: present were Furlani, Tare, Allegri, and also Milan’s Senior Advisor from RedBird, Zlatan Ibrahimović. On this occasion, the ex Juventus head coach put forward specific requests to the club’s management. According to Allegri, in fact, for Milan to be competitive in Serie A and the Champions League, the squad will need to include at least four ‘structured’ players.
Players like Adrien Rabiot, for example. Experienced, strong, and ready immediately to help the Rossoneri win. Of course, always within the club’s financial limits. Alongside them, Allegri is happy to develop young talents provided by the scouting department, as has been happening this season with Zachary Athekame, who has improved greatly over the months.
To strengthen the midfield in the summer transfer window, Tare has a major target: Leon Goretzka. Reaching the 1995-born player, who will leave Bayern Munich on a free transfer, will not be easy, as competition is fierce: Juventus, Inter, Atlético Madrid, and Barcelona are also after him. But the Milan management has been pressing the player and his entourage for months and hopes to complete the deal.
For the attack, there are many names on the list: hopes of signing Robert Lewandowski (1988), whose contract with Barcelona is expiring, are not entirely dashed. On Tare’s list, however, remain the names of Moise Kean (2000) from Fiorentina (a long-term target of Allegri) and Mateo Retegui (1999) from Al-Qadsiah, whom the Albanian sporting director already tried to sign a year ago, before he moved to Saudi Arabia.
Regarding the defence, Milan is considering at least a couple of reinforcements in the next transfer window. With David Odugu expected to leave on loan, the idea is to acquire a top-level player and a young player with significant high-level experience alongside the confirmed Fikayo Tomori, Matteo Gabbia, Strahinja Pavlović, and Koni De Winter.
For months, Milan has been negotiating with Lazio over Mario Gila, born in 2000, whose contract expires on 30 June 2027 and who has no intention of renewing. The negotiation, led by Furlani and Claudio Lotito, President of Lazio, is based on a fee of 20 million euros.
Now, however, the competition for Gila is increasing. Inter, Atlético Madrid, and Aston Villa are also interested. Lotito could spark an auction, and in that case, the Rossoneri club would step back. Because if a lot of money is to be spent, it would be better to invest it in a top player.
It is therefore not surprising that there is a transfer market rumour suggesting Milan is tracking Riccardo Calafiori. Born in 2002, the Italian defender moved from Bologna to Arsenal in the summer of 2024 for 50 million euros, including a fixed fee (45) and bonuses (5), but he has never become a true mainstay in the Gunners’ defence, partly due to recurring physical issues.
For this reason, in the summer, if a good offer comes in, say around 35-40 million euros, with Arsenal making a substantial profit on the player’s transfer, Calafiori could leave, with Milan seriously interested in securing a major coup in the Premier League alongside Tare.
To reiterate: for now, these are only ‘rumours’, as neither Arsenal nor Calafiori appear willing to end their association. However, if the Rossoneri wanted to make a move, they could unexpectedly find fertile ground, reports PianetaMilan.
