Esmir Bajraktarevic is currently at the centre of media attention after leading Bosnia to World Cup qualification in the play-off final against Italy. In that match, the 21-year-old shone for the full 120 minutes, troubling the Italian defence with remarkable physical and technical qualities, capped by the decisive penalty scored in the intense atmosphere of Zenica.

AC Milan keeping an eye on Bajraktarevic:

AC Milan have been closely monitoring him for several weeks through their scouts, confirming their strategy of targeting young European talents, as they did with the signing of 19-year-old Andrej Kostic from Partizan Belgrade. The AC Milan management's aim is to build a squad that blends emerging prospects with highly experienced players such as Leon Goretzka, their primary midfield target, who is nearing the end of his contract with Bayern Munich, as relayed via Corriere dello Sport.

Bajraktarevic, who developed as a footballer with the New England Revolution and was signed by PSV Eindhoven in January 2025 for around €3 million plus bonuses, has already made 33 appearances for the Dutch club, contributing five goals, two assists, and featuring in the Champions League.

Although born in the United States, he chose to represent the Bosnia national team to honour his parents’ roots after they fled the war. The match against Italy ultimately marked his full breakthrough, showcasing both his personality and technical ability on the international stage.
