At a meeting a few weeks ago between Massimiliano Allegri and AC Milan’s management to begin planning for next season (particularly the summer transfer market) the Rossoneri coach was very clear: if Milan want to challenge for the Serie A title and also compete strongly in Europe, they need to raise the quality of the squad by bringing in players with personality and experience. Similar to what happened last summer when Luka Modrić and Adrien Rabiot arrived.
AC Milan’s offer
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport this morning, this is why the club from Via Aldo Rossi have been tracking Leon Goretzka for some time. The 1995-born midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and will leave Bayern Munich on a free transfer. Milan’s proposal is ready: a contract running until 2029 with wages of at least €5 million per year. A three-year deal is also more than what rival Italian and foreign clubs are currently offering, as they would reportedly only put forward two-year contracts.
Goretzka's decision expected soon
Will this offer be enough to persuade Goretzka to say yes to Milan? We should find out soon, because the midfielder’s decision about his future is expected before the end of the season, possibly even by the end of this month. Milan hope for a positive response and to satisfy Allegri’s request, as he is particularly keen on signing the German. The club moved early to get ahead of the competition and are now looking for the decisive breakthrough with a stronger offer than the others.
