AC Milan are dreaming of Robert Lewandowski. For several months now, the Polish striker’s name has been circulating around the Rossoneri’s orbit, and more broadly within Italian football. The 1988-born superstar could provide the experience (and above all the goals) that Milanello needs, especially next season, when Milan aim to return to European competition, ideally the most prestigious one. This morning, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Lewandowski is “offering himself to the Diavolo.”
Lewandowski's agents at work
As has been known for some time, Robert Lewandowski’s contract with Barcelona expires at the end of this season. The Warsaw-born centre-forward has not yet revealed his decision about his future; in fact, he has deliberately postponed it in order to focus on this season’s objectives. The Catalan club has not taken a clear stance either. As a result, a departure is becoming an increasingly realistic possibility. This is where Milan and other major European clubs come into play, in Italy, Juventus are also interested, with Lewandowski keen to continue his career at a top side. For this reason, although his future officially remains uncertain, La Gazzetta reports that the player’s agents are already working to test the waters and identify which leading European teams might be interested in Lewandowski’s experienced profile.
Like Modrić:
From a sporting perspective, a potential move for Lewandowski would resemble Milan’s signing of Luka Modrić: a champion of his generation who has reached an advanced footballing age but still has plenty left to give. He could bring both immense experience and a significant number of goals. The Polish striker has been (and still is) a goal machine; even this season, despite playing less, he has scored 12 league goals. There is also the opportunity to sign him on a free transfer, which would be a major financial coup for Milan. h They will not be able to delay too long, though, as Lewandowski will not be involved in the World Cup and will likely be available on the market from the very first days.
