This morning’s edition of Il Giornale leads with the headline:
"Rossoneri alarm. Massimiliano Allegri’s warning to the team, club and fans: ‘Clarity or it’s a disaster.’”
After the defeat in Naples, AC Milan must respond immediately and secure their UEFA Champions League place starting with tonight’s match against Udinese Calcio.
At the pre-match press conference, Allegri was very clear with everyone connected to Milan:
“It’s normal that after losing in Naples, you lose second place and fall nine points behind Inter Milan. The first two days were the most difficult. But then you have to refocus on the objective. Perhaps we haven’t been good enough to stay closer to Inter, and that gives us something to work on and improve, without losing sight of the Champions League goal. There are seven matches left, and there are teams improving. During a season, there are moments when forwards score and others when they don’t. But I’m confident that from now until the end, they’ll score goals that will help us qualify for the Champions League.”
On a possible change of formation, he added:
"Changes? I’ll repeat it, even if I sound boring. Is Alexis Saelemaekers a forward or a full-back? If it were just about formations, it would be too easy. There has to be balance. In Naples, you go there to get a result, but you can also lose. One match must not destabilise a year’s work: at the end of the season, we’ll sit down and evaluate everything, the physical side, management, what was done well or badly. But we must do it with balance and clarity, without being overwhelmed by events. Because if we are overwhelmed by events, it leads to disaster."
