The match against Udinese was Leao’s lowest point, says a Italian journalist

On his YouTube channel, Carlo Pellegatti, while commenting on the performance of the Rossoneri against Udinese Calcio, focused on Rafael Leao and yet another disappointing display from the Portuguese player. These were his words:

“Against Udinese, all the team’s problems came to light within the much-desired 4-3-3 system. It’s clear that insisting on Leao playing centrally, we have to admit it, was a mistake; he cannot play as a striker. Either Leao plays wide in a 4-3-3, and even today we saw that his current condition is not helping him return to the player we know. The match represents Leao’s lowest point; the other day he had some health issues, yet he still chose to play. But in the five or six one-on-one situations on the wing in the second half, Rafa showed that, whether due to physical reasons, mental factors, or morale, he is not a racehorse at the moment. Unfortunately, that’s how it is: even great racehorses, when they’re not in condition, need to be sent out to pasture. There’s nothing else to be done.”
