Fans expected a different Milan after last week's poor start to the league, but Paulo Fonseca's team disappointed once again in Parma, losing a match that not only provided important and additional points of reflection but also triggered an alarm bell that should not be underestimated by those at Casa Milan. Regarding the current situation of the Rossoneri, Fabio Capello spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport: "Milan's problems are much deeper than a defeat and can be summed up in one word: balance. Fonseca's team lacks it; they're scattered across the field, three here and four there, as the Portuguese coach himself said after the game. This way, they won't get anywhere."
Is the issue more tactical than about the players?
"I would say yes. Fonseca talked about pressing high to recover the ball, but to do that, you have to move as a team, with synchronization, organization, and rhythm, which yesterday's Milan is far from having. Let's be clear, it felt like watching last year's team with its flaws, 6-7 players ahead of the ball, but then when you lose it? You're in trouble... In fact, right now, if I were an opponent, I would be happy to face Milan."
Did the introduction of Emerson Royal and Fofana make any difference? Capello answered:
"Well, this is what surprised me the most in a negative way. Milan didn't change even with the substitutions and continued to suffer from counterattacks in large spaces. Actually, to be honest, Parma was even more dangerous down the wing occupied by Emerson Royal. This confirms that it's not an issue of individual players but the entire team."
