Tuttosport: Milan without identity: A poor imitation of the last one under Stefano Pioli

AC Milan's start to the season has been shocking, something not seen around Milanello since the distant 2011-2012 season when, with Massimiliano Allegri on the bench, the Rossoneri collected the same number of points after two Serie A matchdays. However, by the end of that season, Milan finished second in the standings, showing that there is still plenty of time to improve and recover, but it needs to start happening immediately.

Losing any more time would mean further jeopardizing an already uphill season, something this Milan cannot afford if it wants to keep the trust of its fans.

What was seen yesterday in Parma, as reported by Tuttosport, was a Milan without identity, "a poor imitation of the last one under Stefano Pioli, with gaps between the departments, an almost total lack of technical, physical, and mental aggressiveness, and a fragility in creating clean chances that a great team cannot afford."

The blame for this situation also lies with Paulo Fonseca, who is the first responsible for this technical-tactical situation. After the match at Tardini, during his post-match interview, the Portuguese coach analyzed the defeat against Parma honestly, admitting his fault: "As the coach, I am always the main responsible for what happens with the team, so I take responsibility and do not want to shy away from it."

At the same time, however, the blame does not solely rest with Fonseca, who nonetheless did not avoid admitting that: "It seems clear to me that there is a collective problem with defensive attitude and aggressiveness. Then people only look at the defenders, but the defenders suffer greatly due to the ease with which the others play. This team has a general problem. After an important preseason, we've had a difficult change that is hard to explain [...]", although he should somehow manage to do so, with the Rossoneri fans already quite dissatisfied and demanding (once again) an immediate reaction against Lazio, in a match that already weighs heavily like a boulder.
