AC Milan's head coach, Paulo Fonseca, spoke to the media in a press conference after the loss against Liverpool in the Champions League first match.

Here's what the Portuguese tactician said, as relayed via Milan News:

What do you think about the fans' protest?

"I don't think it was a problem with attitude. We started well, both defensively and offensively. However, after their second goal, we became emotionally unbalanced, and the team started making mistakes that are fatal against teams like Liverpool. I must say that Liverpool was stronger than us and is stronger than us at this moment."

What is the most serious problem? Fonseca said:

"I haven't talked to the players yet. We have several problems. When things are going well, the team wants to play and do things right, but when there are problems, the team lacks the courage to do the same. Defensively, we are fragile, we are fragile. In one-on-one situations, it has always been difficult, and there are clear difficulties."

Can these problems be solved in time for the derby?

"By working, watching, and showing what was done well and what we got wrong. The goals we conceded are not acceptable for this type of competition. But working is the only way to change things."

When you signed for Milan, did you expect it to be this difficult? Fonseca replied:

"They brought me here to change the way the team plays, and that’s what I’m trying to do. I knew it would be difficult. Making so many changes is always hard, and it's not proving to be easy because it’s a very big change. I’m as strong as I was on the first day, knowing that the results are not what we want and that we don’t have time. What brought me here is my style of play, and that’s what I will continue to do with this team."
