A 30-year-old forward from Serie B could be an interesting option for Milan in the winter

AC Milan has operated well in attack during the last transfer windows, building a quality squad full of alternatives. On the right, there's Christian Pulisic and Samuel Chukwueze; on the left, Rafael Leão and Noah Okafor. For the center-forward role, the Rossoneri can rely on three options: Álvaro Morata, Tammy Abraham, and Luka Jović.

This trio allows coach Fonseca to have a deep bench or, as seen in yesterday's derby, play with two strikers while still having a good substitute for in-game changes. There one factor that cannot be overlooked, though.

As pointed out by PianetaMialn.it, it seems that one of the aforementioned players could leave Milan in the January 2025 transfer window if presented with a significant financial offer. That player is Chukwueze. In preseason, he seemed to have convinced Fonseca, who shifted Pulisic to a central role in his 4-2-3-1 to create space for the Nigerian on the right wing. However, this led to an overly unbalanced team.

As a result, the former Villarreal winger now has to settle for a few minutes and is struggling to make an impact. Bought for 20 million euros plus 8 million in bonuses from Villarreal a year ago, he has many admirers and a market in the Saudi Pro League (he previously turned down a lucrative offer to join Milan). If a similar offer comes in January, his response would likely be different this time. For 25 million euros, the Rossoneri would give the green light to his departure.

How would Milan replace Chukwueze?

The idea is to target Domenico Berardi, who is looking for redemption. The 30-year-old Italian right-winger is currently injured but is expected to return to play in the second half of October after recovering from an Achilles tendon injury and subsequent surgery. He is unlikely to finish the season in Serie B, however, where his current team, Sassuolo, is playing.

For a 15-million-euro investment, Sassuolo's number 10 could finally get his chance to shine at a top Italian club like Milan. Besides his ability to score goals, provide assists, and take set pieces, Berardi is also skilled at playing as a right midfielder. If Fonseca wanted to use the 4-4-2 formation seen in the derby again, he would have the perfect player for the role.
