In a week largely devoid of significant events, strangely calm given the current situation at Milan, the issue that dominated the headlines was Theo Hernandez’s contract renewal.

The story started with the front page of Gazzetta dello Sport a few days ago, where the newspaper reported that the Frenchman was asking for a salary of 8 million euros, a figure Milan doesn’t seem willing to meet. But the big news came from TeleLombardia, which interviewed Manuel Quilon, the French left-back’s agent, who provided insight into the situation. According to Quilon, Milan hasn’t spoken to him since May-June, a period during which the club acknowledged the player’s desire, unchanged, to stay at Milan.
After that, months of silence followed. Meanwhile, at Milanello, the club’s management has held direct talks with Theo, once again receiving his willingness to renew, but it is clear that the proper process must be followed: sitting down at the table with the player’s agent, who will never act against his client’s wishes.
Quilon’s statement has “flushed out” Milan’s position, writes Milannews.it, as the club now finds itself obliged to at least make a phone call to the agent, if only to avoid further displeasing Theo’s representative.
Theo's request for a renewal is less than 8 million euros
According to Milannews.it, Theo's request to renew is 6.5 to 7 million euros. The narrative that the player is being portrayed as capricious and wanting to break off in order to be sold is not accurate, however. Even if a break were to occur, no one would pay the full value of his transfer fee, but rather would come with a lower offer to solve the problem.
In addition to that, it is important to remember and emphasize that strong players are never a problem, especially when they are calm and can be mentally recovered.
