It may not be directly related to the Milan Public Prosecutor's investigation into illicit revenue from the stands at San Siro, but it is, in some way, a consequence of it. And it's a nice consequence for the fans who go to the stadium: during the Milan - Club Brugge match, those who parked in some of the lots on Piazzale dello Sport, just steps from the Meazza, found parking meters and Atm staff managing the flow of cars.

In other words, three hours of parking cost €3.60. That's right: €1.20 per hour, as per the municipal rate for that type of area. Blue lines, which are often despised in certain parts of the city, were welcomed in this case. Under the old management, those same parking lots could charge up to €40 for the most important matches.

These are the first concrete results of the management of some San Siro parking lots, which have returned to the jurisdiction of Palazzo Marino (Atm manages all the municipal blue lines).

For those who want to use the daily rate, the cost will rise to €10. The presence of Atm staff, which will be permanent, will also help deter illegal parking attendants, a problem that is particularly important to the municipality.

The numbers show that the Local Police have conducted 2,155 checks in the area from January to today to combat illegal parking. The outcome: 118 people checked, 73 removed, with some subject to Daspo, 14 vehicles inspected, 20 reports filed, and 1 criminal seizure.

This is, however, a phenomenon that has never really been eradicated. Now, a new era could truly begin.
