AC Milan appointed Paul Fonseca as head coach during the summer, but he is yet to prove that he is the right man for the job after a disappointing start to the campaign.

Bring in a Winning Manager

Milan missed an opportunity they failed to appoint Antonio Conte. He has transformed Napoli, while Milan have floundered under Fonseca.

Their recent Serie A outing against Cagliari was a perfect example. The hosts outplayed them, and the match ended in a draw despite Rafael Leao scoring a brace.

While Fonseca won titles with Shakhtar Donetsk, his overall record is unimpressive and the idea that he was the man to bring the club its 20th Serie A title was never the smartest plan.

His one stint in Italy with Roma did not set the world alight, and fourth-place finishes Lille in Ligue 1 were just about what was expected.

Fonseca doesn't move the needle, and the early signs suggest that Milan may need to be more ambitious with their managerial appointment to compete for the title.

Former manager Massimiliano Allegri is available. Whatever reservations the club faithful have about his style of play, he wins trophies.

Milan Need a New Striker

Milan signed striker Alvaro Morata to replace Olivier Giroud. The Spaniard has struggled to stay fit, and he is entering the twilight of his career.

Tammy Abraham joined on a season-long loan, but he has found form hard to come by. He must step up his game and score goals more consistently if he wants to Milan to sign him permanently.

The club must sign a new striker, and they need to look for value in the market. They could find it in the Premier League in Brighton & Hove Albion gem Evan Ferguson.

The Republic of Ireland international emerged as one of the best young centre forwards around when he spearheaded Brighton to the Europa League.

Injuries ravaged his second season in senior football, but the 20-year-old is ripe for an explosion. The Rossoneri  would be wise to seize this opportunity while he struggles for playing time.

Milan have previously enjoyed success by signing undervalued Premier League players such as Christian Pulisic and Fikayo Tomori. They should repeat the trick with the Brighton striker.

The Irish striker could make the club Serie A contenders again, and his presence in the team would undoubtedly spark interest among bettors in his homeland.

Irish betting sites would be inundated with wagers on Milan, while Ferguson would also be a popular pick to top the Serie A goalscoring charts.

The Irishman could be a game-changer for 'Il Diavolo' and their odds of winning silverware would be boosted if he rocks up at the San Siro.

The Right-back Problem Has Not Been Solved

The Rossoneri inexplicably let Pierre Kalulu leave to Juventus on loan for a paltry sum and signed Emerson Royal against the fans’ wishes.

Emerson is unconvincing defensively and sub-par offensively. Despite having Morata as an aerial target, he has struggled to pick out the former Juventus striker.

Meanwhile, club captain Davide Calabria tries his best, but just isn't good enough these days. Milan must re-enter the market for a new right-back to plug a major hole in the team.

Fiorentina's Michael Kayode is a fascinating homegrown option Milan could sign. He has struggled for game time but gave a decent account of himself when he came on against Parma in August.

The 20-year-old has enjoyed more playing time in the Europa Conference League, where he has been outstanding in three outings.

Monaco star Vanderson is another possible target, although Milan may be priced out of a move by interested Premier League clubs.

Teammate Wilfried Singo is a long-term target. The seven-time Champions League winners know him from his time in Serie A, and they should consider signing him.
