Sergio Conceição spoke to Prime Video at the end of Milan's Champions League defeat against Feyenoord.
On the match:
“We’re only halfway through. We still have 90 minutes to play. We knew about the difficult atmosphere here in Rotterdam—they were very aggressive and won many duels. When that happens, winning a match becomes much harder. We had chances to equalize but weren’t effective enough offensively, we didn’t take advantage of them. There was also a bit of bad luck with the goal we conceded. We lacked aggression in duels, while they were always quicker and more aggressive. We knew about their strength in second balls—these things are very important, they win you games.”
Will you continue with four attackers?
“Look at this match. The players need to see what they have to improve, but there isn’t much time to work on the pitch. On Saturday, we have Verona, and then on Tuesday, we have 90 minutes to play and things to improve in order to win and qualify for the Champions League Round of 16, which is our objective.”
Do you need to keep motivation levels high?
“Emotionally, I’m always very motivated to give my best. If you’re not motivated for a Champions League match… For me, qualities aren’t just technical—there are many attributes players need to reach the highest level: consistency, continuity, desire, attitude. That’s how you win a lot of matches. In terms of our play, we also need that offensive aggression. We had many balls in the final 30 meters that we should have finished differently. So, emotionally and in terms of motivation, we must always be at our best."
