Alexis Saelemaekers, after his season at Bologna, has confirmed his reliability in recent months with Roma.

The Belgian winger, who will turn 26 on June 27, will be one of the main names in Milan's outgoing transfer market, with the club hoping to gather a significant amount from various loaned players, which can then be reinvested to strengthen the team during next summer, according to the decisions of the new sporting director and the (potential) new coach.

In the final days of last summer's transfer window, Milan and Roma arranged a loan swap with Saelemaekers moving to Roma and Tammy Abraham joining Milan. As a result, both clubs have the option to independently assess the value of the two players, based on their performances throughout the season. And Saelemaekers has been doing very well, with 21 appearances and 6 goals (a career record for him) so far in the league, along with several assists contributing to Roma's attacking play.

Alexis' steady growth is evident to all, and his market value has risen significantly this season. In the summer of 2024, Bologna chose not to exercise their option to buy, which was set at 12 million euros, but now the valuation of a player like Saelemaekers is no less than 20 million for his transfer fee. In January, Roma's sporting director Ghisolfi held talks with Milan's management to discuss the valuation of Saelemaekers, as well as Abraham, but Milan prefers to keep the two operations separate.

If Roma does not make a satisfactory financial offer, Alexis will return to Milanello and could potentially fight for a spot, which would lead the club to focus on trying to sell Samuel Chukwueze.
