Capello: “Maignan, Theo, and Leao? The future is uncertain”

On the pages of Gazzetta dello Sport, Fabio Capello, former Rossoneri coach, commented on Milan's current situation:

"I think about Milan, where everything seems complicated to me: the chain of command, exactly, what is it? If the coach chosen at the beginning of the season ends up not convincing, if the market strategies have not worked, it should be possible to identify a managerial figure who chose those players and that coach, yet at Milan it's still unclear who does what. Ibrahimovic is not a manager but an advisor to the ownership, yet some time ago he said that he is the boss and that he is the one in charge. However, the hierarchy in the choice of the new sporting director seems to be going in another direction, with CEO Furlani in the forefront. Even the fans are confused, they don’t know whom to really blame for a season that is seriously at risk of ending without a place in the upcoming Champions League."

Capello added:

"Maignan, Theo Hernandez, Leao, all players who have been at Milan for a while and who have won a league title with the club: they should have taken the lead and helped their coach — Fonseca first and then Conceição — to shape the team, yet not only have they not taken charge of the situation, but they have experienced their worst moments this season. It’s likely that there was a misjudgment with all three: they were thought to be leaders, but they are not. For this reason, the future looks even more uncertain than the present: should Milan sell them, turn the page, and rebuild around other players like Reijnders and Pulisic, or can they still rely on them?"
