Ariedo Braida: “I would have brought Conte to Milan”

Speaking to Radio Marte, executive Ariedo Braida discussed the upcoming match that Milan will play on Sunday evening at the Maradona Stadium against Napoli. Here’s what he had to say:

"I remember all of Maradona’s goals against us at Milan. There are no favorites; they were all spectacular, each one better than the other, even though sometimes they led to our defeat," he recalled.

He then shared his thoughts on Sunday’s match:

"Napoli-Milan on Sunday is a very important game for both teams, but it’s not a do-or-die match; it’s not decisive. Napoli needs to make up three points to reach the top, while the Rossoneri want to return to the Champions League. It will be a tense, hard-fought, and difficult game because both sides have significant objectives. Whoever is in better shape and manages to win will take a big step forward. Napoli has had a series of matches with many draws, but with only three points separating them from Inter, everything is still open—because in football, as long as the math allows it, anything is possible."

"I’m a Milanista, I support the Rossoneri. They are in a tough spot in the standings, but there’s still time to recover. Lately, the team has shown signs of revival, only to fall back asleep again. I would have brought Conte to Milan, but he’s a coach I would have taken for any team because he has proven his worth. In football, results matter, and Napoli’s coach has shown he knows how to win wherever he has gone, proving himself to be a great manager."

Would Sunday be less bitter if Napoli caught up with Inter by winning? Braida replied:

"Well, what I think is that if Napoli deserves it, then it’s only fair that they win. For me, football is about meritocracy, fairness, integrity, and commitment. If one of the two teams plays better and proves superior on the field, then they deserve to win. Even though, as Rocco used to say, in football, the team that plays better doesn’t always win—it's the one that’s better at scoring goals."
