Four goals scored, two disallowed, and in the end, only one point is earned.

Fiorentina were better in the first half, Milan improved in the second. The final score of the spectacular match at San Siro, valid for the 31st round of Serie A, was 2-2.

Fiorentina's deadly one-two, then Abraham pulls one back

Palladino’s side started decisively against a very sluggish Milan. In the 7th minute, Musah lost a bad ball, triggering Mandragora, who spread it wide to Gudmundsson. The Icelander smartly avoided Maignan’s rush with a low cross deflected into the net by Thiaw. Kean was also ready to pounce on the ball. Just three minutes later, a brilliant team move by the Viola: once again, Mandragora spread the play to Dodo, who sent in a first-time cross for an easy tap-in by striker Kean to make it 2-0. Fiorentina dominated for 20 minutes before Milan reacted with pride (more heart than head). In the 23rd minute, Abraham exchanged a one-two with Pulisic on the edge of the box and blasted a powerful right-footed shot past De Gea to make it 2-1. Meanwhile, coach Conceicao lost patience with Musah and replaced him as early as the 25th minute with another forward — the former Fiorentina striker Jovic. The match remained wide open, and Fiorentina even found a third goal just before the break: Parisi won the ball from Pulisic and laid it off to Ranieri; the Viola captain struck an unstoppable shot past Maignan, but there had been a previous foul by the former Empoli man, and referee Ayroldi decided to disallow it. The teams headed to the dressing rooms with Fiorentina leading 2-1, as relayed via Milannews.it.

Milan fight back and equalize through former Viola striker Jovic

The Rossoneri returned for the second half with a completely different attitude: they immediately took control of the game and left Fiorentina only with counterattacks. Leao, Jovic, and especially Pulisic had chances, but De Gea produced some spectacular saves. However, even the Spanish keeper couldn’t stop Jovic in the 64th minute, when the striker exploited a defensive lapse to find himself one-on-one with the keeper after a through ball from Tomori and coolly slotted it home — the classic goal against one’s former club. Fiorentina didn’t sit back, though, and Maignan matched De Gea with top-level saves — particularly his stop on Kean in the 66th minute, and again in the 86th. The finale was chaotic, featuring a spectacular volleyed goal by Dodo disallowed for offside in the 89th minute and the sending off of coach Palladino. But the result didn’t change: 2-2, one point each.
