Will Mike Maignan still be defending Milan's goal next season?
The French goalkeeper’s contract expires in 2026, and despite rumors of a broad agreement having already been reached some time ago with the Rossoneri, the signature on the extension has not yet arrived. And so, as the weeks go by, his future becomes increasingly uncertain. Chevalier on Milan's radar?
For this reason, as reported this morning by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the club managers are evaluating potential replacements for Maignan. One of them is Lucas Chevalier, a 2001-born goalkeeper from Lille, who could therefore follow in the footsteps of Magic Mike, who also arrived at Milan from the same French club. His valuation is high — reportedly between 30 and 34 million euros — as he is being tracked by several clubs.
Verbruggen also tracked by AC Milan?
Another track leads instead to Bart Verbruggen, a Dutch goalkeeper at Brighton who has an imposing physical structure (194 centimeters) and an important supporter at Milanello, namely his compatriot Tijjani Reijnders. Bought in the summer of 2023 from Anderlecht for around 20 million euros, his price has now more than doubled. Further complicating matters is the interest in him from two top clubs: Bayern Munich and Manchester United.
Carnesecchi
In addition to these two foreign options, there is also an Italian path that leads to Marco Carnesecchi, born in 2000, from Atalanta. According to La Gazzetta, he is one of the possible transfer market names for La Dea (Atalanta), but he too would not be sold at a discount. Therefore, the money that could come in from Maignan’s sale would all need to be reinvested to get Milan’s new number one.
