It is the first step for the restart of next season, when a new coach will arrive and the squad will be adjusted to correct many flaws. With the name of Fabio Paratici having already faded despite a verbal agreement reached between the parties, the main candidate as of today remains Igli Tare, the only one without ties to other clubs, and for this reason an official contact is expected between Giorgio Furlani and the former Lazio executive.

By the way, before diving deeper into this article, and as you eagerly await a new direction, many are also looking to add excitement to their passion, which is following the Rossoneri matches. Checking out the best new customer betting offers can enhance your experience and love of the beautiful game. Top UK bookmakers like Betway and Unibet provide generous bonuses, perfect for wagering on Milan’s next moves.

Speaking of Milan and Tare again, now, we can expect further meetings to take place between the parties in order to try to seal the deal or get closer to an agreement which would please both parties.

Besides Tare, other profiles reportedly remain in the race for AC Milan job...

Tony D’Amico remains a valid alternative, but Atalanta would first need to be convinced to let him go, as the executive of the Bergamo-based club is under contract until 2027. The same goes for Giovanni Sartori, one of the best sporting directors in Italy, the one who left his mark at Chievo and Atalanta, and is now doing the same at Bologna. For him, a significant effort would be needed, because as of now, the Bologna club higher management has no intention of letting him go, but it would be right to restart with 'football men' and experienced people.

Therefore, Tare remains the simplest solution, because he is free from contractual obligations and could sign within a few hours. But after the arrival of the sporting director, it will be time to get serious about the coach, and the name we’ve been pushing for weeks is that of Antonio Conte. Even the Rossoneri fans—not all of them, of course—would prefer the coach from Apulia to lead Milan. As a second option, there is talk of a potential return of Massimiliano Allegri, who is familiar with Serie A and Milan. He is an experienced winner and could be the right profile for the Rossoneri club.

What did Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani say recently about the sporting director search?

“I’ve always said that I wouldn’t comment on news or alleged reports regarding possible names that haven’t been made official yet, but I’ll tell you this: the reality is that we’re in the same position as we were a few days ago — we haven’t yet decided on the sporting director, despite all the rumors that have circulated. A deadline for the decision? We’re aware that it’s already April, so it’s important to start preparing for next season. For us, it’s crucial to find and choose the right person”

What about AC Milan's transfer market?

The team needs a winger in view of the next season. The first movements began a few days ago, writes Italian journalist Antonio Vitiello for Milan News. The question here is legitimate, however: without a coach and sporting director, how can Milan already move in the market?

Clearly, there are some positions that will need to be reinforced regardless, but above all, the aim is to reach the summer already with a range of available names to work on. Furthermore, AC Milan has put Samuel Chukwueze up for sale after two anonymous years. He is one of the players available on the market, after nearly packing his bags in January to move to  Premier League side Fulham. The deal fell through due to time constraints, but in the three summer months, there will be plenty of time to find a solution. The Nigerian had arrived in July 2023 with the intention of making his mark in the Rossoneri shirt and making a difference after a long negotiation with La Liga club Villarreal, but aside from a few occasions where he produced good plays, he has always lived in the shadow of former Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund talent, Christian Pulisic.

The thoughts of many Milan fans are reflected in the statement of Matteo Gabbia after the 4–0 victory away at Udinese: "The value of the squad does not reflect the position we are in, but the blame is ours and not someone else’s. We must take responsibility.”

Exactly so, there is enormous regret for a squad that should have fought for the top three positions, but instead finds itself in ninth place in the standings with six games remaining in the league. Milan has paid dearly for the choice of the two coaches, Paulo Fonseca and Sergio Conceicao, respectively, underestimating the importance of a world class head coach.

That is mistake that must not be repeated for next season, when it will be essential to understand that the team must restart with an experienced tactician on the bench, and not gamble on other profiles. There are still 18 points up for grabs before the end of the season, and to hope for a miracle, all of them would need to be won.
