AC Milan and Theo Hernandez are increasingly at odds. The path leading to Al Hilal, which had offered 30 million to the Rossoneri for the transfer fee and a base of 20 million per year to the player, has faded away, and now the situation is becoming tense between the parties, in an arm-wrestling match that – objectively – benefits no one. Mistakes have been made and lie with both parties in the matter, and it will be up to each person's free will to decide who bears a greater share of the blame. But the fact remains that Milan and Theo Hernandez can no longer continue together.

Atletico Madrid an appealing option, but a proper offer is needed for Milan...

The club that could resolve everything is Atletico Madrid, which is seriously interested in Theo Hernandez. Milan has made its stance clear: cash offers are needed, and deals involving player exchanges will not be considered. That is why the name of Molina, which circulated in recent days, did not gain traction in discussions. The Colchoneros have offered 15 million plus bonuses; Milan does not consider this a proper offer and wants the Spaniards to raise the fixed amount to at least 20 million. Theo is waiting, Atletico is a very welcome destination, and he would accept a return there. Therefore, a push is needed from the red-and-whites to try to put an end to a relationship – the one between Theo and Milan – that once seemed like it could last forever but has instead gradually faded over the past 18 months.

World Cup and the risk of being sidelined?

Theo Hernandez, in the event of no agreement between Milan and Atletico and in the absence of another significant offer, intends to remain with the Rossoneri and leave at the end of his contract. But what would this solution entail? Certainly a difficult environment at Milanello, where Allegri and Tare would have to manage an important player who already knows he is leaving. On the other hand, Theo – who must avoid at all costs the fearsome prospect of being sidelined – could not afford not to put in the effort, especially because next summer there is the World Cup in the USA and Mexico. But there is also the risk of falling down the pecking order, because Milan will bring in a left-back during this transfer window. The best solution, for the good of all, is to part ways now.
