AC Milan are looking for another striker to pair with Santiago Gimenez, and among Tare’s shortlist is Victor Boniface from Bayer Leverkusen. Fabrizio Romano, in a video on his YouTube channel, gave an update on the Nigerian forward:
“There’s no doubt that Victor Boniface is on Milan’s list as one of the attacking options—they really like him. The unlucky part of this story is that between March and April, Boniface was considered to be on his way out of Bayer Leverkusen. In fact, at the end of January, he was practically sold to Al Nassr, but the deal fell through because Al Nassr opted to sign Duran instead. It was basically done—Boniface had even undergone his medicals with Al Nassr.
Boniface was seen as a player on the way out for a long time. But then what happened? Erik ten Hag arrived and expressed his intention to play with two strikers and to believe not only in Schick but also in Boniface. That changed everything. Up until around late April or early May, Boniface was seen as expendable, but with ten Hag’s arrival, his importance at the club shifted.
That’s why, as of today, Leverkusen are asking for a fee of at least €40–45 million. It’s a significant amount, and ten Hag wants to keep him—he’s not trying to push him out of the club. That’s why the cost of this deal is not simple. However, compared to other targets—take Nicolas Jackson, for example—who would cost an enormous amount, we can rule him out, because we’re talking about €70–80–90 million, which is almost unthinkable for Milan or any Italian club today.
Unlike Jackson, Boniface’s price tag is steep but not a locked and sealed door. We’ll have to wait and see how this option develops or if the Rossoneri decide to go for a different striker," as relayed via Milannews.it.
