The summer transfer market window is heating up around one interesting name: Giovanni Leoni. Allegri's team could be a great fit for him.

The summer transfer market is heating up around a name that promises fireworks: Giovanni Leoni. The young Parma defender, just 18 years old, has become one of the hottest prospects on the radar of Italy’s top clubs. Milan, Inter, and Juventus are all vying for the 2006-born gem. And although Parma would like to keep him, the allure of a big move is becoming increasingly hard to resist. Among the contenders, however, Milan stands out as the most logical and advantageous destination for the defender’s development—especially considering Massimiliano Allegri’s expertise in shaping young talent.

Leoni, a Rossonero future? Allegri's touch could be crucial:

Milan, having secured the arrival of veteran midfielder and Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric, has placed Leoni at the top of its wish list for the defensive department. The path to making a move is clear: exits are needed. If Malick Thiaw accepts Como’s offer, the Rossoneri will decisively pounce on Parma’s young star. The deal could even involve the inclusion of Liberali, Milan’s promising 2007-born talent, who is highly regarded by the Gialloblù.

What makes Milan the ideal destination for Leoni is the presence of Massimiliano Allegri. The Tuscan manager has always shown a remarkable ability to work with young players—nurturing them and turning them into pillars of his teams. Under Allegri’s guidance, Leoni would not only have the chance to become a starter for Milan, but also the time and tools to grow into a cornerstone of the Rossoneri defense for both the present and the future.

The price of talent and the competition from other clubs:

To pry Leoni away from Parma, a significant offer will be required. The Gialloblù value their young jewel at €25–30 million. It’s a hefty price, but one justified by his performances in his first and only Serie A season, where he made 17 appearances and even scored a goal against Venezia.

Naturally, Allegri’s Milan isn’t the only club to have spotted Leoni’s potential. Inter are also strongly interested. At the Nerazzurri, the youngster would be reunited with Cristian Chivu, the coach who shaped and trusted him last season, handing him a starting role at Parma.

Juventus are also in the race for Giovanni Leoni. The Bianconeri are aiming to build an Italian core within the squad, and the 2006-born defender would be a perfect fit to reinforce the club’s youth-oriented project—both in the short and long term. The competition is fierce, but the pull of Italy’s three giants is undeniable.

Leoni’s future remains unwritten, but one thing is certain: his next move will mark a crucial turning point in his career. Milan, with Allegri at the helm, might just be the perfect canvas on which to paint his future as a top-level defender.

By the way, high schoolers who admire Giovanni Leoni and play sports can aspire to be like him by dedicating time outside of school to training and working hard. Sometimes, however, unexpected events can lead to injuries that impact a player’s career. In such cases, a personal injury lawyer in Atlanta can assist in seeking compensation for medical expenses and lost wages.

What are Leoni's numbers in the last season?

In the 2024/2025 campaign with Parma, Giovanni Leoni featured in 17 Serie a matches. He even scored one goal from his centre-back position. The young defender received three yellow cards and one red card. In total, he played around 1200 minutes. He is regarded highly and experts expect a lot from him in the new season due to his great skills and potential.

Regarding the transfer market, what did AC Milan's sporting director say?

“We’re also looking to bring in another midfielder and a striker. We’ll sign both a right-back and a left-back. If there are departures, we’ll move for wingers and a central defender. Same goes for wide attackers. We must stay focused on doing the best for the team and being contenders”

As for Allegri, this was what he had to say to the media in a recent press conference when asked about the management moves in the transfer market:

“As for the transfer market, the director Tare, together with the club, is monitoring it. Every day we share and evaluate the opportunities that arise. The departures were all agreed upon with the club. Today I have 25 players at my disposal and I’m very happy. Things need to be done gradually and done well: on August 17, we have our first Coppa Italia match — a knockout game that will help us prepare for the league. I don’t talk about the transfer market — that’s the director’s job, he takes care of that. We have Jimenez, who can play as a full-back, and Bartesaghi, who is an interesting young player. The director has the time and means to sort things out. As for the center-backs, we have four with different characteristics, and they all have room for improvement. Pavlovic has potential, and so do Tomori and Thiaw. Gabbia is an exemplary guy in terms of attitude and behavior — I'm happy with him."
