Is Dusan Vlahovic the ideal solution for AC Milan?

The Rossoneri cannot afford to get the choice of a new striker wrong: as the weeks go by, the idea of knocking on Juventus' door is gaining more traction. The idea for the club is to create the best possible team for head coach Massimiliano Allegri to be able to compete. Once a strong team is built, perhaps more fan enthusiasm will be gained and the supporters will be able once again to log into sport betting sites (like those reviewed by Betgurus) which can offer valuable insights and exclusive bonuses.

Many notions, many names, but at the moment no clear target has been officially declared. AC Milan’s transfer window still requires a few more additions after settling the Luka Modric and Samule Ricci deals to strengthen the midfield, and among these, bringing in a new center-forward is one of the most crucial moves in order to properly assess the quality of this market.

Mexican striker Santiago Gimenez will be confirmed after the 35 million euros investment made just last January, but he will be accompanied by a striker with different characteristics — a number 9 who is better at linking up with the team and staying active inside the box. A rare and, above all, very expensive type of player nowadays.

The latest reflections made by the sporting directorIgli Tare and the rest of the Rossoneri management have led them to two foreign options: Nicolas Jackson of Premier League club Chelsea (who just won the FIFA Club World Cup against Paris Saint-Germain) and, subsequently, Victor Boniface of the Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen. Two players who, for different reasons and at different times, have not been and still are not considered central figures at their respective clubs. The 13 goals scored in his second season in England weren't enough to convince Italian head coach Enzo Maresca of the qualities of the Senegalese striker, who was bought for just under 40 million euros but is now worth significantly more. AC Milan management explored the possibility during negotiations — which eventually fell through — for Archie Brown, but quickly realized the chances of success were very slim, as pointed out by those at Calcio Mercato.

These considerations gave rise to a real and concrete interest in Victor Boniface, who is coming off a season heavily affected by physical problems and the possibility of a move to Saudi Arabia, specifically to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr. The Nigerian international ended last season under Spanish tactician Xabi Alonso with just 11 total goals and is looking to bounce back, but in Germany, the word “discount” simply doesn’t exist. Having already lost three locker room leaders,  German central defender Jonathan Tah, his talented countryman, who is 22 years of age, and plays as an attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz, and 24-year-old Dutch right-back Jeremie Frimpong, new coach Erik ten Hag does not want to part with any more key players. And he's been supported by the club’s top brass, who are asking for between 40 and 45 million euros to let Victor Boniface leave.

Given that the profiles of Frenchman Jean-Philippe Mateta, who currently plies his trade for the Premier League outfit Crystal Palace, and the Nigerian central forward Tolu Arokodare who plays for Belgian club Genk are not particularly hot at this stage of the market, Dusan Vlahovic remains a relevant option. It’s a constantly evolving situation, with the Juventus management having long decided to move on from the 25-year-old Serbian striker and his extremely expensive final contract year, worth nearly 24 million euros gross. So far, however, there’s been no cooperation from the player, who joined from Fiorentina in the summer of 2022 for a whopping fee of around 83.5 million euros, and his entourage, who do not want to give up anything and, even in the case of a potential early termination, are aiming for a severance package to offset the lower offers expected from interested clubs.

Among those clubs is definitely AC Milan, which, however, would not go beyond offering a net salary of 6 million euros per season and is relying on Juve’s urgency to offload the problem to get the deal done.

What are Dusan Vlahovic's numbers in the 2024/2025 season?

The player who is said to have an excellent relationship with Massimiliano Allegri from their time together at AC Milan, made 44 appearances with the Bianconeri shirt last season. He managed to score 17 goals while providing 5 assists to his teammates in the process. Overall, he played 2695 minutes on the pitch across all competitions (Serie A, Coppa Italia, Super Coppa Italiana, UEFA Champions League, and the FIFA Club World Cup). The left-footed centre-forward is currently valued by Transfermarkt at 35 million euros. In recent weeks, he has been strongly linked with a move to the San Siro. We will see if AC Milan's executives, Igli Tare and Giorgio Furlani, will be able to convince Juventus of letting him go on favourable terms.
