AC Milan announce that Emerson Royal has moved to Flamengo on a permanent transfer.
The Rossoneri Club would like to thank Emerson and wish him the best, both personally and professionally.
The Brazilian defender wasted no time posing in his new jersey and sharing his joy on social media, posting:
“Living a dream!!! Once Flamengo, always Flamengo.”
Flamengo, for their part, shared the following statement:
“Flamengo has decided to sign its second reinforcement of this mid-year transfer window. It is Emerson Royal, a 26-year-old right-back who played for Milan. He has signed with O Mais Querido until December 2028 and joins to further strengthen the red-and-black squad in the league, the Copa do Brasil, and the Libertadores. The new signing will wear jersey number 22.
Born in São Paulo, Emerson rose through the youth ranks at Ponte Preta and caught the eye of European clubs during his time at Atlético-MG. He began his European career at Real Betis, where he played 79 matches, scoring five goals and providing 10 assists.
After a stint at Barcelona, the full-back moved to Tottenham, where he made 101 appearances, scoring four goals and registering two assists. Last season, he featured for Milan in 26 matches, 22 of which as a starter.”
