Matteo Moretto, speaking on Fabrizio Romano's YouTube channel, gave these updates on Milan’s transfer market, starting with the negotiation with Young Boys for Zachary Athekame:
"There are updates on Athekame: sporting director Tare wants to close soon and therefore I expect that it will come to the signatures by the middle of this week. Milan presented a first offer of 7 million, rejected by Young Boys who are asking for 10. I am being told that Milan will make a new bid in the next few hours, one or two million more. Athekame already has an agreement with Milan, the only thing missing is the agreement between the two clubs."
On Malick Thiaw:
"Malick Thiaw continues to be a target for Newcastle. Milan and Como had found an agreement at 25 million euros in recent weeks, but the German did not accept the transfer because his priority was and is to stay at Milan. If he really has to leave, the player has always said he wants to go to a club that plays in the Champions League. Newcastle is looking for a central defender: the first target was Scalvini, but Atalanta’s wall led the English to put the negotiation on standby. Newcastle is looking around and an old favorite already dealt with in the past is Thiaw. The English club has gone back to gathering information on the German. As of today there is still no offer, but Newcastle is trying to understand the conditions for the German’s exit. I am being told two things today: the first is that Allegri would like to keep him. Then, the market is the market and Milan would be ready to listen to offers, but this time Milan is asking for more than the 25 million that Como was ready to pay. We are talking about a figure over 30 million euros. We will see what happens, but as of today the news is that Newcastle has put Thiaw back in their sights. The player is important for Allegri and would not want to deprive himself of him, unless an off-market offer comes in."
On former Milan player Luka Jovic:
"Luka Jovic has been linked to several clubs in recent weeks, but he will go to play in Greece. He will sign a two-year deal with AEK Athens."
On Patrik Schick:
"Schick has made official the renewal with Bayer Leverkusen. Contract until 2030. He was never actually a viable option for Milan, he always said he wanted to stay in the German club," as relayed via Milan News.
